I stopped by Fringe Salon to meet up with Miss Kimberly, who was getting her hair colored and trimmed. We also made a half-hearted attempt at finding our bridesmaid dresses. I was planning on making mine, but since I am in way over my head, I think I might just buy one. Very simple - we just need all black dresses. It's just that I'm extremely picky and unrealistic. Is it so much to ask for a 50s or early 60s dress with a nipped in waist and full skirt, in solid black? Oh, and can it be my measurements and within my budget? Too much to ask? Yeah, I guess so:)

At least we accomplished one thing: Kim's hair is colorful again! If you're in NYC and you need your hair done, I highly recommend checking out Fringe. It's an adorable salon with the cutest, friendliest stylists. I'm sure everyone is equally talented, but I know from firsthand experience that Amy (the owner), Jen and Holly are amazing. Prepare to girl crush on all of them. Check them out and then stop in Babycakes (next door) for some delicious vegan treats!

Field Trip

I can't believe I forgot to post these photos. They're from the epic Tessa and Ally visit! On this day alone, we rode the Staten Island Ferry, went to The Met and had a little jaunt in Central Park. I'm hoping we can make this an annual tradition. I have so much fun with these kids. Ally is like a mini Kim. She started calling Ally "mini-me." She and Kim were separated at birth. I'd like to think that Tessa is a mini version of me, but she's way cooler and more grounded than I ever was at her age. I forgot to put my photos on my laptop before leaving for Florida, so I didn't get a chance to post these photos from the day of the CVS Beauty Club Beauty Board luncheon in San Diego. Kimbly was downright harassing me for them ("Where are those photos, b?!"), so I'm sure she will be pleased that I finally got around to it. I have a million or maybe even a billion more photos for Kim, so make sure to check out her blog a little later. She loves company.

Which reminds me, I believe she might be coming to visit in a couple of weeks! And then I will be going to Los Angeles, hopefully in late October, so I'm pretty excited about the next couple of months. I'll also be turning twenty-seven in less than a month and I'm not completely thrilled about that...but let's just gloss over that for now. On the bright side, I made a list of cakes and pies that I want for my birthday. Yes, plural.

Bear Mountain

I wasn't kidding about wearing the same outfit twice! At least I had the decency to change shoes and add a sash, right? It just seemed like a nice dress to wear on a hot and humid day, since it's lightweight and airy. Bobby, Kim and I took a trip out of the city and up to Cold Spring, which ended up being an epic fail. We wanted to go antiquing and enjoy the quaint little town, but it apparently shuts down on Wednesdays. Cold Spring, how dare you!

We salvaged the rest of the day with a mini exploration of Bear Mountain State Park, where Bobby failed at climbing trees and Kim and I won at eating ice cream. You can see more photos at Bobby's blog and Kimberly's blog. Yeah, Bobby jumped on the bandwagon. Follow his blog, This Fellow.

Nine Five Four

Take two girls raised in The Sunshine State and anything below eighty degrees will give them the shivers. When Kim checked the weather and said it would be in the low seventies, we both opted for tights and I, for a lightweight jacket. WRONG. It was in the high eighties within an hour. Weather widget, you are a trickster.

We spent Saturday the way I prefer to spend most of them: at the Brooklyn Flea, eating delicious local food and browsing vintage bric-a-brac and antiquities. Afterward, the two of us wandered around our neighborhood and peeked into some of the cute little boutiques Park Slope has to offer. I only bought one thing, but Kim picked up several little gems, which she will eventually post on her blog, along with more pictures from the day (and of her outfit).

p.s. My cats are ruining my life. Not only did they shatter my mirror, but I just came home and found that one of the cats clawed my purse (the one pictured). It's my favorite and I'll never be able to afford to replace it:( About one second after that discovery, Lacy threw up at my sewing station. They are lucky they are so cute.

Unicorn Dreams

Remember when I first spotted these shoes and almost died on the spot? They have a unicorn horn for a heel; it's like they were made for me. Well, I'm a very lucky girl because Modcloth sent them to me right before the IFB Evolving Influence conference, along with this cute little dress and these gloves I've been wearing nonstop. I did what I always do with new things: I wore them all at once. I used to do that the first week of school - I would wear all of my new school clothes within the first week and then I'd have nothing but old clothes left until laundry day. Come to think of it, I also do that with groceries. I guess I'm impatient and gluttonous.
