Tiffany & Co. : What Makes Love True

Lindsey, Christine, Katy and me.
I think it's safe to say that Tiffany & Co. are masters of events. I wasn't sure anything could top actually having breakfast at Tiffany's, but they really outdid themselves with this one. In celebration of the launch of their new site, What Makes Love True, Tiffany & Co. took a group of us on a tour of some of their favorite, most romantic spots in the city. We started at Tiffany's on Wall Street, made our way over to Italian Wine Merchants and finished the night at Raines Law Room. I loved their romantic spots so much, I can't wait to explore the rest of their suggestions. You can see the full list of their NYC recommendations here and catch a glimpse of the two we experienced, below.

It was a rainy night, but they made sure we each had an umbrella as we headed off in the bus. Luxury field trip!

Italian Wine Merchants has a two person dining nook where couples can eat by candlelight. I wonder how many proposals have taken place there! We stuffed ourselves silly with delicious cheese, bread, olives, fish and risotto.

Christine and Lindsey.

We wrapped up our night with cookies, chocolates and drinks at Raines Law Room. While everyone had their cocktails, they were kind enough to make me a delicious non-alcoholic drink to sip on - strawberry and ginger soda. Delicious.

Craig and Bobby were the only guys there, other than Carson from Tiffany's. What lucky guys!

Huge thank you to Tiffany & Co. for yet another magical experience.

Makeup Monday: My Style Pill

What timing! Just as I was lamenting my lack of Makeup Monday, Christine of My Style Pill posted photos from a shoot we did last August with the extraordinarily talented Jamie Beck. Christine modeled, I did her makeup and Jamie - whose photography and moving images are an obsession of mine - took the photos.

I used MAC Snob on her lips, which is a pale, matte pink, MAC Porcelain Pink Mineralize Skinfinish on her cheeks for a natural flush, and kept her shadows neutral with a thick line of blacktrack fluidline along the upper lash line. See a similar look here.

I had such a great time on this shoot. I rarely get to do anyone's makeup but my own - and I have to say, it was pretty fun! You can see more photos here and make sure to check out Jamie's blog, From Me To You.

We truly didn't plan the color coordination, though it certainly looks that way. These photos are from our first day in New Orleans, when we spoke at the Martine Chaisson Gallery on a NOLA FW panel. Raina moderated the panel, in which she introduced us with a singles ad approach (with our helpful personal tidbits about ourselves) - "Keiko Lynn is a virgo, enjoys cookies of all kinds and is the palest person from South Florida in existence." It's a good thing I already have a boyfriend, because I have a feeling that ad wouldn't get me a whole lot of boyfriends. The vibe of the whole panel was relaxed and fun, with more of a focus on intimate conversation than the usual formalities - it was fresh and interesting. In short, we had a great time answering questions on the panel and mingling within the beautiful gallery space. Look at those bunnies! I could have a whole wall covered in those little babies and Miku and I would be so happy, all the time.

Special thanks to Sparkle Beetle, Martine, the great minds behind NOLA Fashion Week and all of the people who came out to hear us speak!

ambling madly all over the town

I love these girls. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, we had such a great time in New Orleans. On this particular day, we walked all the way from our hotel near the French Quarter to the Lafayette Cemetery. In heels. Christine and I switched into flats for a bit, but I found that these were actually more comfortable. My flats ended up giving me blisters! Several people told us that the cemetery was within walking distance, and being that we are New Yorkers, we didn't hesitate to embark on what we thought would be a breezy journey. Put it this way: we could have walked from the Financial District to Columbus Circle and beyond. Let me reiterate: in heels.

Still, we had an amazing time exploring this beautiful city. We managed to get back in time for the Sophomore show, a peek at Jeremy Davenport's performance at the Ritz Carlton, and dinner at Lilette.

My dinner at Lilette: Bouillabaisse with rouille crouton, and for dessert - nutella custard with fleur de sel, caramel cream and chocolate-hazelnut brittle. I also shared the raw fish plate and the most delicious gnocchi, because calorie counting isn't my thing. Side note: I have since joined a gym, no joke.

All in all, it was a decadent and delightful day. How's that for alliteration?

Take that woman on down to New Orleans

I traded in a demure pair of flats for sky-high platforms, which makes absolutely no sense for a stroll through New Orleans. We met Christine and Lindsey for beignets at Cafe Du Monde, took a walk along the river, explored the French Quarter and beyond, and headed back to the hotel for a quick refresh. From there, we met with the absolutely amazing ladies and gents of Sparkle Beetle and NOLAFW at the Martine Chaisson Gallery for a pre-panel tour of the space (beyond words), and drinks and appetizers at Capdeville. We then headed back to the Gallery, where we participated in a panel discussion (moderated by Raina - to know her is to love her) on blogging, fashion and such - and had a chance to talk with many intimidatingly well-dressed citizens of New Orleans. Dinner was held at Ste. Marie, where we further initiated our NOLA food coma tour and had an overall great time. And that was just the first day! Needless to say, we all fell in love with New Orleans and its inhabitants at first sight. I think all four of us have said, "I miss New Orleans" several times since our departure. What an amazing place.
