crimson and clover

Bobby and I have been very busy, and the past couple of weeks have been no exception. He's working two jobs (seriously, he's always working!), while I'm sewing way too many dresses, helping with my sister's wedding planning, making her wedding dress and generally taking care of business. We found some time to take little Miku to the dog park, where she befriended a baby pug and got extremely dirty. We let her play until it got dark and all of the puppies went home. I obviously decided to dress like I was Joan Jett; I was probably listening to Crimson and Clover while getting dressed that day. I've actually been wearing jeans a lot in the past two weeks. It's like I all of a sudden realized how convenient they are.

MYNY

I'm super excited about my most recent collaboration, with Coach and their MYNY Poppy campaign. This officially made me realize I'm a New Yorker. I'll always be a Floridian, but I've been living here for more than three years! This feels like home, now more than ever.

I picked the Tyler Moto Jacket because I have been on the hunt for the perfect motorcycle jacket for over a year. Kismet! It's super soft and fits beautifully - and it has a teal lining. I love that I can push the sleeves up, zip it up or wear it open. Naturally, I paired it with an overtly feminine skirt and bows. As much as I want to think I can be Joan Jett, even in a leather jacket I am still a girly girl. But hey, if I can't be Joan, I'm up for playing her love interest in any future videos. Joan, what do you think? Do I have a shot?

Check MYNY to see more photos, interviews and all of the new Poppy products! You can also check it out directly by going to Coach.com, clicking on the "New at Coach" tab and selecting MYNY.

Pink Roses

Outfit Details:
Coach bag and jacket - courtesy of Coach
studded bustier - borrowed from Kim (she got it at H&M)
ruffled skirt (worn as a dress) - courtesy of Asian iCandy
DKNY Cozy - courtesy of DKNY (gift from the style off)
tights - Target
bow flats - Nine West (buy a half size down, they run a little big)

I felt like a runaway princess in this outfit, like I escaped the castle by way of my bad-boy boyfriend's motorcycle but didn't have time to change out of my princess dress and slippers. Except I hate motorcycles and if I lived in a castle, I would never ever leave. Still, I can't keep from twirling in skirts/dresses like this - and I'm pretty sure that's the sole job of a princess. In my head, a princess just twirls and twirls and maybe restlessly sleeps on a stack of mattresses with a pea underneath.

Serious matters of royal duties aside, I have been enjoying changing things up with sporadic bouts of longer hemlines and flat soles. I haven't abandoned my heels, but I've made an effort to be a little kinder to my feet (flats in my bag are my saving grace). After a long day of around the city in six (yes, six) inch heels, I stopped into Nine West and bought some much needed flats. Bonus: they have huge bows on the toes. Double bonus: they were super on sale at just under $22.

At that, the charade is over; I'm merely an ordinary girl. Who has ever heard of a bargain shopping princess?

Grab her clothes to pull her in every direction

Outfit Details:

Kristin clutch - borrowed from Coach
floral romper - thrifted
Alternative Apparel cardigan - courtesy of LuLu*s
tights - We Love Colors
Seychelles Hawk Wedges - courtesy of Seychelles

It was inevitable that all of these items were finally worn at once; it's a compilation of the most worn items in my closet. I wear this jacket with everything: it's warm enough for chilly days and small enough to sling over my arm when not in need of excess layers. The draped cardigan and the romper are my comfy go-tos and the Seychelles Hawk wedges are just my favorite (I like them so much, I have them in two colors). I love changing it up and wearing new things, but it's so nice to have the steady picks that are always in rotation. It makes early morning dressing so much easier. Lately, my schedule has been so hectic - especially without my computer or iCal for mild organization - that I have been throwing outfits together and running out the door.

Did I mention that my macbook pro is back at Tekserve? Otherwise, I would have a couple more photos of this outfit to share. It seems as though the hard drive was not the only problem (looks like an easy fix - corrupt OS). Let's hope this doesn't take another two and a half weeks, or else I'll be in Florida and unable to retrieve it. Don't get me wrong, I'm terribly grateful for Tekserve. It's just that I would be really happy to have a working computer again!

You must be my lucky star

80s necklace - from my mom's shop

I'm inadvertently taking you through a tour of the decades this week, am I not? A little 70s, a glimpse of the 90s and now a brief stint in the 80s. Maybe not quite Madonna 80s, which is such a shame because that would have been another childhood dream achieved (along with the velvet acquisition). When I was a toddler, I used to go around singing "True luh, oh bay-beh, true luh, oh bay-beh" and even dressed as her for Halloween. I was a little too young and never quite cool enough to pull off the entire look; I had to settle for the more age appropriate Punky Brewster and Debbie Gibson. It's probably best that way; you can't touch the original. Plus, I learned so many important lessons from Punky, like how you should never hide in the fridge.

True story.

Temper-Temper-Temperature

Just looking at these photos makes me shiver. Though these photos were from before the Florida trip, it exactly matches the current weather: chilly and rainy - which is a nightmare for someone already suffering from a cold. I guess it wouldn't be much better if it was beautiful outside. At least I'm not missing much in the way of weather. Still, I'd appreciate not being feverish and sick sickly, so I'm just taking it easy and hoping I'll recover soon!
