It's (Almost) a New Year!!!!!

Here's what I'm donning later. It's super easy to just opt for something sparkly when fun stuff is going down y'know.

This blazer was a gift from a friend a while back, I'm surprised I haven't worn it more since it's just beyond epic

Speaking of, I'm BEYOND excited for what the new year has in store. Thank you to all my followers and I can't wait to continue sharing my stuff with y'all!

Speaking of which, here's a hint of what's to come:

Winter Break, Part I

So my friends in NYC called me over the weekend & were like, "The weather is absolutely lovely! It went up to 57º on Saturaday!"
"Oh, really?"says I, huddling next to the radiator, watching 6 inches of snow come falling from the sky.

Yes, it is indeed winter break, and it sure as hell feels like it.
I spent my day finishing up the last pages in my wonderful new book on the Marchesa Luisa Casati (1881-1957) who famously declared, "I want to be a living work of art."

She served as a muse for many artists in the early twentieth century, parading around Rome and Paris in the most amazing, extravagant ensembles accompanied by lavish exotic pets.

Remember Dior haute couture spring/summer 1998 and the autumn/winter 2008 Bal des Artistes haute couture collection for Dior? John Galliano has frequently quoted La Marchesa Casati as one of his main inspirations in his collections.

I loved this book by Scot D. Ryersson and Michael Orlando Yaccarino. There was this wonderful introduction by Diane von Furstenberg that really captured my imagination. It's kind of amazing how this woman still continues to inspire artists in & out of the fashion world to this day. I highly suggest reading up on this wonderful woman.

Vintage dress, F21 shawl, thrifted jacket, F21 heels, vintage sunglasses

please excuse the moody expressions, I totally didn't mean it :D
These vintage sunglasses are out.of.this.world. My dad found them in an antique shop, and they even come in the original case for the early part of the century.
I don't wear them very often however since they look kinda funky on me, but eh, today I figured what the hell

I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL NEW YEARS!!
I'm off to work on my partay dress
Toodles!

F21 blouse and tights, thrifted overalls, boots c/o Wanted, vintage necklaces & belt, Giles and Brother bracelet

Lounging in comfy stuff, watching cartoons & organizing photos from the holiday weekend!

These boots were generously sent my way thanks to Wanted Shoes & I gotta say I love 'em! Unfortunately, they aren't terribly useful in the snow, but they have great traction and will be perfect for walking to class in back NYC (although there seems to be way more snow there than here these days!). You can get them HURR!

New Years is close at hand! Celebrations are to be prepared for!
Until then, I'm staying comfy :]

Casu-elle

LET THE BREAK BEGIN!!
I know what this means
this means I am no longer attached to the before-break high school papers, all of which I think should go rot in a frozen drippy well somewhere because I AM THROUGH WITH WORK!!
.......at least for a week, or so

today, I give you my normal, totally nothing special, pretty-much-everyday casual/school look:

Roll 250
Deena & Ozzy Boots ,Boys' Fruit O' the Loom Tank , Thrifted Blazer, Fox Jeans

You might be wondering "Claire, do you really wear heels to school?"
Yeah, I do...surprisingly, though, I have yet to experience a foot injury :D
These particular boots from UO are great! They're pretty decent in snow, and they have good traction when I need to run to classes

SO
..because I completely forgot that break started today, I just lounged around the house & made some wrap bracelets with some wonderfully gaudy thrifted crystal necklaces & spare leather straps

it's pretty easy to make, just wrap 'n wear basically

_IGP6220

The white leather strap came off of a shoe, and I've added some Velcro to keep the ends together.
The red strap was severed from another piece of jewelry from the Gap

Roll 2501

To add to the crafting mayhem I was experiencing, I made a drawing of all of the shoes I wish I could afford

SCAN0001

I'm a Hanukkah gal, and even though my holiday is over, I wish everyone a safe, wonderful, amazingly awesome holiday season!

Thank you everyone!

Thrifted coat, dance dress & button-up, vintage garter belt, Cole Haan loafers, Vintage bag

Ahh, this bag. I found it on wednesday in my favorite thrift store down here in the east village and it is worth its wear indeed. The thing looks small, but it has actually proven to be a deep abyss, able to carry my SLR camera, (large) wallet, gloves, scarf and then some. Loving it!!

Some thrift/vintage shopping in Brooklyn today! I actually found this amazing Jcrew sequin sweater only to come home and find out that the ink security tag was still attached. Buffalo Exchange, I love you, but get it together.

FAIL.

other than that, it started snowing a little today, which is craziness, but lovely.

ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT UNTIL BREAK, YOU GUYS!!!

dance with me...
